We have been in San Antonio a week now. So far, I love it. I have unpacked a lot, but the other bedroom in our apartment is still half-full of boxes. I have to figure out where to put it all still - we are missing all of that cabinet space from the Provo house!
The drive out here was pretty nice. We took our time and I only had to drive 2 hours of it! Jon's brother Aaron drove my car, his dad drove the truck, and Jon and I were in his car. It all worked out perfectly. We stopped in Roswell, NM museum (we were looking for the alien museum, but ended up in the historical museum instead - oh well), and we also went to the Carlsband Caverns. It was so cool - the elevator took us 700 feet below the ground and we went into "The Big Room" of the cavern (there are a ton of different rooms, but we were in a bit of a hurry and only went through this one - it still took over an hour). The path is over a mile long - it was HUGE! We packed our camera so we didn't take any pictures, but here are some pics I found on the internet:
I love where we live. We live in a brand new apartment complex, and we feel really safe here and so far everyone has been so nice. The pool is pretty and I love going swimming in the evenings with Jon. Shopping is only a mile down the street - there are a ton of shops, including WalMart and Target and the grocery store and a bunch of smaller places and restaurants. We live only 6 miles from downtown, so we get there in 10 minutes or less. We have already tried Shipley's donuts, which Emma said were the best - and they were! Mmm they were so good.
Last night Ben and Tasha were in town and we went downtown and walked along the River Walk and went to one of the Mexican restaurants and had a delicious dinner next to the water. It has tons of restaurants along it and I loved the all the bustling of the people. We then walked up the block and saw The Alamo and right across from it they have a bunch of places like Ripley's Believe It or Not, a wax museum, and other odd places, which might be fun to stop in another time. :) The ocean is two hours south of us and off of that is South Padre Island. We can't wait to go there to spend a weekend.
We went to church on Sunday, and I think I will love this ward. Everyone was so inviting and kind, and it's nice and small. The Relief Society sisters cheered when I said we had moved into the ward. The counselor I sat next to said there is only an average of 8-10 sisters in RS on Sundays. Jon and I both got warned that we may have at least 2 callings each. I already know they need a RS pianist... I do like smaller wards, and I am excited to get to know more people and be more involved.
Today, my plan is to unpack a little more, and lay out by the pool and finish reading 'The Secret Garden' (I don't remember what the movie/book is about at all! So far, so good). And hopefully I will unpack the camera so I can take a video of our new apartment and take some pictures of our activities!! I miss Utah and I miss my friends, but so far I am loving this new adventure!

Wow, that cavern looks amazing! I'm glad you're liking your new ward. I loved serving in branches on my mission for the small home-like feel.
Yay! I'm glad you're alive. BUT you gotta take some pictures. OR I should just come visit and take pictures for you :) I miss being your photography.
So glad you are loving your new place!! Your ward is going to love you! :)
